Looks lekker. Is that tread plate on top of the mesh floor or only the cross support bars?

    Does look very nice

On another note, what Tyre pressures do you recommend Oz with 3 bikes on a trailer. Not sure if the tyres are 13 or 14 inch, but if I’d have to guess I’d say 13

No point in welding mesh under. You will end up with rust and rattling issues.

Imagine your trailer without the mesh and a steel plate welded over. This plate is 3mm thick and 5mm on its knock. It has the exact construction yours has underneath, so still plenty supports. But I would bet that with half the supports the plate would still be strong enough to not buckle at all.

So with run of the mill 13 inch 155 tyres I would say between 2 and maybe 2.3 bar. All depends on how much you have additional in fuel, kit etc. But generally I run 2 bar on them. When clients collect and I know they are driving far with nothing loaded I drop their pressures to around 1.4 bar.

14 inch with a 195R14C tyre fitted one should be careful of going too hard. These tyres can handle a huge load. When pumped hard the trailer will bounce and vibrate a lot and this is what kills the chassis and bearings etc. I would say 1.8 bar with a light load, with nothing on you can easily go to 1.2 bar.

This all depends of course on what the trailer itself weighs and so on.

    Thanks Oz

The trailer has 155 13's on it. Only loaded the 3 bikes. Fuel cans are empty.

I would go 2 bar there. General rule is to check obviously once loaded. As in if you feel it is squashing down too much, then go harder.

    Those Pretzels.....

Good concept but no-one ever folds them up so what you get is basically a trailer that has terrible strength because it can fold up, but it still lies in your driveway taking up space and rattles like fuck.

WE have had about 5 or so come through our factory over the years. Part of the job scope was to weld it up so it cant fold and rattle anymore

Hundred percent. Quite a bitch to cut the mesh off, but we have done it plenty. Rather that than the lazy way and just welding the plate over

Not my trailer and my mate who’s it is does fold it up every time as it parks standing up at the back of his garage.
