One reason I know is that he got tired of having to keep blowing the 2T exhaust pipe out all the time...

Besides that ANDY pipe, its an easier bike to ride in most conditions. (for me at least)

I would like to think that im an average rider but I am by no means fast at all and my riding lacks the ability to go fast and keep corner speed. The 4T gives me plenty of confidence with its handling characteristics and that on its own is enough for me to live with it in any other condition. But luckily for me i dont weigh 65KG and I have the leisure of visiting the gym from time to time so when the going gets tough I can wrestle the bike if needed cos it will wear you down in serious tech if you lack skill and fitness and even worse a combination of both.

That being said I have "ridden" plenty races in the last couple of years but have been nowhere near my ability since 2016, post ACL selling my 250FE that I spent at least 550hrs on. This past weekends LEC Casterbridge race was P for Proper and somehow I manged to even get a results which I wasn't aiming for or expecting. But throughout the entire race I was thinking to myself Im really glad I didnt have a linkage or a 2 Stroke today.

So in short, other than amazing fuel consumption, great handling (more planted front end), extremely tame and predictable power the 250F provides and the increase in traction from the engines inertia, I dont see any reason not to ride a 4T. Then also if you hang on the throttle you better make sure you hang on cos it loves revving as it just keeps making power the higher it revs.

One thing to remember, Which I could finally put into words after 5hours of seriously tough racing is that the engine braking works for you if you learn how to use it properly. - If you are tippy toes on the pegs on a steep down hill for maximum balance you need to feather the clutch, sometimes completely eliminating the inertia (permitted the front wheel does not break traction) and other times using the idle speed of the motor and popping the clutch to help with balance and braking. This is part of what makes a die hard smoker rider say "a 4T is so heavy on the down hills". A seasoned 2T rider will also not jump onto a banger and feel comfy straight of the bat. The bike is more prone to stall and it will take at least 3 rides or more to adjust your riding style and from there you will love it.

    If I could have 2 bikes brand new bikes, I would have a 2019 KTM250F - XCW and a Husqvarna 350 - FX

Thanks Tman, all makes sense to me.

Just riding 4T's has caused me to never learn how to use the rear brake properly. I suspect some time on a 2T will teach me this and then transfer back well onto a 4T. Engine braking is great, but this is one unwanted side effect. Not the 4T's fault of coarse, but my shitty skills.

If you dont want engine brake trek net die koppelaar hefboom!

I cant even tell you how many hours I get on a set of brake pads as I seldomly replace them, feels like they last ages.

No, maybe my rant above is a bit confusing. I do want and enjoy engine braking, but also got spoilt by it, hence having no rear brake skills. On the TTR I just let the motor stall on the steep downhills, guiding it down with clutch and front brake. Then when you hit the bottom bump start it by letting clutch fully out. Dodgy technique but it worked.

    Anyways, 4TFTW.

Which is obvious, but to such an extent that it actually bothered me, so was curious how the 250F would feel high up
