Ive owned 2013,15,17,18 and not one has been a step backwards. The 17 was definitely an improvement over the older model, the jetting was way off at first and caused frustration for some. I don't believe there is a bad bike not just talking about KTM. The Tpi`s are awesome bikes with some pros and con`s but more pros... for me personally the biggest con is that it is hard to kick start a TPI when the battery is flat...it does start but more like kicking a 4t were as the carb model always kicks starts easily. My next bike will be another TPI and that's not because Im brained washed I like the bike.

He was asking what bikes were flawless and I am saying until 2016 they were pretty much flawless. Only issues really were the 4cs forks but if you knew how to work on them then there was no issue. You rarely heard okes complain except maybe user errro. From 2017 carb you either had to use lectron carb and if you were able to get the mikuni jetted correct then the fuel consumption was kak so you needed to route the overflow pipe - this wasnt on a few bikes but many. Then came the TPIs with their own issues. Trust me I love ktm/husky and i currently ride a husky.

17's do not need a craptron carb. That thing is the biggest POS, in my opinion, out there and takes away all the bottom end from those bikes. I got mine running quite well with the Mikuni and got 90km from a tank. Same as I'm getting running a Keihin on my 17. Reason I switched is that the Keihin is more consistent and gave me the power delivery I was looking for. Also, saying the 2017 bikes are unrelaible is BS. 240 hours on mine with zero issues. As for the 4CS, those things are downright dangerous.

Love my 19 TPi, best bike I have EVER owned, and the 17 and 18 TPis that I raced were also awesome, the 17 was one of the very first from Austria (July 17) and it was down on bottom end compared to my carbed 17, but better EVERY where else. None of them ever overheated or lost coolant, never battled to start either.
Yes, I am slow, but.......I can go slow for a looong time!

No need for brand bashing Rob,

It's like me saying a Toyota Hilux is the biggest POS out there because I don't like the power delivery? Or Adidas tekkies are POS because they hurt my feet?

Lectron or any other metering rod carbs do have their advantages VS traditional carbs period. They have saved hundreds of riders from jetting headaches as not everyone has the time or the will to stuff around with jetting and various carbs etc. which may or may not work on their bike or fit their riding style.

Just because you didn't like it it doesn't mean it is a POS.

In my opinion! Which I am entitled to. As you point out, many people do not share said opinion. Having tried the Lectron, Smartcarb, Mikuni and Keihin I am confident I know what I am saying

One of my riding buddies sold his 2018 300 TPI last Friday for 80K! Less than 25 hours on, loaded with all the best goodies and looked after like a new girlfriend. We all learned this info on our Watts app group an hour after the deal was finalized.

He must have been extremely desperate or he wasn't interested in getting a lot more loot for that bike!

Not desperate at all I can tell you. Just tired of riding. If his history is anything to go on he will have a 2020 TPI in his (well stocked) garage come Christmas.

So then the latter of my comment, he wasn't interested in getting a lot more loot for that bike!
