Confirmed - the sprocket was delivered and is there, waiting at the work bench. Thanks Team SBR!

Tyres and tubes also collected - thanks Ian (and Adam).

    Cheers

Apparently, OEM plastic parts are no longer available (mudguard?) but lots of mechanical spares are still available. If you can provide the VIN number of the bike, they will happily provide the relevant parts file for you and your mates to check what will assist you.

You have my e-mail address in my previous post.

    Regards,
Big shout out to Half Bac and the Helderberg/Yamaha crew for helping us out!!! Very cool of you guys. A nice box of toys arrived today to continue with the rebuild...

Team Leader Arch has arrived back from travels and the various bits and pieces are almost all together to start re-assembly in earnest. Will keep you posted soon as we have more news... heading over to the workshop now.

More progress last night... oil compartment in the frame cleaned out, and engine loaded into the frame. Hopefully all plain sailing from here...

That's Morgs, Arch (it's his XT), The Rhino, The Midget, and The Goldfish. Good chaps.

Also fine my side. Both here and on WD.
Beer, I drink it when I`m happy or when I`m sad. I drink it when I`m alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. Trifle with it if I`m not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise, I never touch it - unless I`m thirsty.

So the raffle has come and gone, and we have a very happy new owner of the concourse condition (almost…) XT500….Stella White from Johannesburg is the proud new owner, and once the loom has arrived and been plugged in, and roadworthy done (after a final loop of the peninsula of course…) we will hand her over for many happy miles to come!!!

Winners of prizes as follows - Congrats! Thank you so much to the relevant sponsors:

Prize / Number Drawn / Name

    1 x Yamaha XT500 / 150 / Stella White
    1 x DEUS EX MACHINA Hamper (worth R12k) / 210 / Warren Hill
    1 x 5 T-shirt Hamper from Vents Brull / 397 / David Deetlefs
    1 x Case of Sailor Jerry / 387 / Linda Girolo
    1 x Motul product hamper / 303 / Gadso Hautmans
    1 x R500 Voucher for Timbercity Woodstock / 486 / Christopher Woodrow
    1 x Teng Tools Mini Toolkit / 205 / Andre De Wet
1 x Beaver Creek Coffee & Candles By Amanda Hamper / 65 / Margie Adcock
    1 x Wine Hamper from Kaapzicht / 171 / Ben Mulder
1 x Wine Hamper from Kaapzicht Sav Blanc / 421 / Rich Dales
    2 x Nomad Gear bike duffel bag / 284 / Richard Poulton
    1 x hand knitted biker socks / 263 / Clive Winterstein
    1 x case BOS Iced Tea / 45 / Margie Adcock
    1 x R500 Café Roux Voucher / 354 / Chris Hosken
5 x Cape Town Festival of Beer tickets for every raffle ticket purchased

Many, many thanks to WMC for hosting the raffle event on Friday evening – there was a great vibe and it was fantastic to meet many of the generous people who made this whole initiative possible and the success that it was – the build team, sponsors of the build, prize sponsors, entrants and many others... I am still humbled by the outcome of being able to raise R250k which I can assure each of you will make a real difference to a family that are going through truly challenging times. As much as the cash will make a difference, the heartfelt thoughts and prayers from all involved are also very much appreciated by the family…

With the mad rush of getting the bike finished now over, it is opportune to formalise some thank-yous:

    • Devin and his team from WMC have been absolutely amazing, and without their enthusiasm, and initiative, and minor (ha, ha, …) technical input and support we would still be trying to work out the difference between a carburettor and a footpeg…
    • Harley and the guys from Dennes Engineering (and Aquablast) have been equally amazing and indulgent of endless requests for last minute help...
    • Mike aka Superfoxi also put in many hours reconning fork and truing wheels – often at late notice and with an irrational degree of urgency…
    • Tim from Tim’s Motorcycles for happily providing a helping hand – also often at late notice and with an irrational degree of urgency…
    • Malcom from Tangent Customs for what I am sure you’ll all agree is some phenomenally skilled paintwork
    • Helderberg Yamaha with generous sponsorship of many genuine bits and bobs…
    • De Rust It for making 40yr old bits and bobs look like new
    • Motul for sponsorship of lubes
    • Ian Kinnear from Moto101 for the tyres and tubes
    • Eagle Hard Chroming for the great job they did on the forks
    • AMP for the chain

Please support these guys – there hearts are in the right place, and they do fantastic work!

Then just a final word of thanks to the build-team who dropped everything for what turned out to be a 5 week crash course on bike-building…these guys put their hearts into this project and it reflects in the result!!! What a great experience and thanks you!

Again – please keep little Josie in your thoughts and prayers!!

OK – that’s about it… a couple of pics of the evening attached…Thanks again for all the support!
