    All solid panniers are expensive.

SW-Motech Trax panniers and top box is like 20k for a set.
It never gets any easier, you just go faster...

For everyday commuting and quick trip somewhere, aluminium top box is OK. If you going on a trip, nothing beats canvas luggage bags. Excepting if you are only doing tar road trips, then I suppose they should be fine

Only if he is keen on taking the kitchen sink, coffee maker, generator and special holders for espresso coffee cups

I have hard and soft luggage and prefer a roll up soft bag, my ATG bag has just fallen apart at the seams due to really crappy HF welding so have just ordered a new bag from a SA chap "nomadgear.co.za" very well priced and well made.

It's easier to look at your house and decide what not to take.
